1.Exercise Regularly

It's no secret that regular exercise has many benefits for overall health and well-being.  But did you know it can also help reduce the effects of stress?

When we exercise, our body releases endorphins which are commonly referred to as the "feel-good" chemical.  This improves mood and helps us deal with anxiety and stress.

2.Eat A Healthy Balanced Diet

Healthy eating is just as important as regular exercise when it comes to managing stress levels.  What we eat significantly impacts our mood, how we feel overall and influences how we handle stressful situations.

If you're feeling stressed or anxious, it's best to avoid junk food (that high fat, greasy burger) and instead opt for foods with omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, tuna, and walnuts.

3.Get Enough Sleep

Easier said than done, right?  But getting a regular shut-eye is essential for coping with stressors in your life.

Sleep is when the body heals itself and restores its energy levels -- so if you don't get enough sleep, then you will find yourself more stressed out and irritable.

4.Take Control Of Your Life

You won't be able to avoid stress in your life, but you can control how much stress you experience by changing how you react to problems.

5.Get Enough Sleep

Do your best to get seven to nine hours of sleep each night. When you don't get enough sleep, your body makes more of the stress hormone cortisol. That makes it harder for your body and immune system to handle stress.

Bottom Line:

A healthy lifestyle will help reduce stress. By modifying your lifestyle to include more healthy habits, you can manage the effects of stress on your body, and even use periods of stress as an opportunity to engage in healthy habits that play off of each other.

For example, a healthy diet with adequate rest will place less strain on your body, giving it the chance to recover better during and after stressful periods.

There are many different aspects to having a healthy lifestyle and reducing stress. But if you practice these five aspects you should be in good shape!
